i agree with hurricane rider. you can use pretty much any muffler as long as you can get it to fit. as far as I know theres not really an issue with back preasure unless your using a smaller diameter can like something off say smaller than a 400cc bike. (correct me anyone if thats wrong) headers... different story, not so much cos of pressure but because they just wont fit at all! start fabbing your own and you run into problems of creating back pressure in the bends. I'll be fabbing an underseat pipe on mine when i get that far (streetfighter) using the stock headers.

it will work, I have friends that have taken cans off of different brand bikes and swaped them out and they work. The catch is you have to figure out a way to tune the bike so that you get the most out of the exhaust. If u use a can thats not made for your bike then your kinda on your own as far as tuning because no company makes instructions for tuning an exhaust for a 93 when put on an 89.

they are free flowing but still restrictive to a degree. all cans have chambers in them that create back pressure, the back pressue is determined in the style of chambers and the amount of packing used. just because u can see straight through it doesnt mean it has no chambers. any and all engines rely on some type of back pressure from the exhaust system to help produce power. For instance, ride a bike with the can on and then ride it with the can off, you will be able to tell the power difference no mater what type can, stock or aftermarket.
