how does the wiring look? is it all factory harness, or has someone cut it open and taped it up? i would start at the switch, and trace the wires to the bulbs. make sure all the connections are clean and tight. search for the manual online, itll have wiring diagrams.

sometimes they work opposite, sometimes normal, sometimes not at all?

Default Blinkers

Check near by fuse box where your blinker switch plugs in. Your switch may be going as well. Make sure the fuse is okay or the correct one.
To get an inspection you have to have lights or atleast in maine anyhow.

Flush the switch with wd40. Make sure the bulbs where they go into the sockets are corrosion free, but I would vote 99% for the switch though as it is the common point in the wiring that would cause the issues you are seeing.

Default problem solved

hey sorry i havent got back to anyone but i never had a chance to take the switch apart but the first sunny day i got i hopped on and the blinkers worked fine so im guessing that the problem was moisture on the contacts so there must be a crack somewhere thats letting in water thanks for the info!
