sounds like the valve tappets. i would say you really need a valve adjustment. what i did not hear was what it sounds like with some throttle input. does it sound the same? either way, i wouldn't run too much longer, could lead to some serious damage.

Mines there too right now Similar issues. Its been a week, and i havent heard from them. I told them to go over the whole bike and fix what needs to be. They are supposed to call me with the estimate so i can pick and choose what to have them do (things i cant do).. Good luck with yours.

Yeah. Mine was a mix between the valves, and cam chain. I had a new tensioner put on, but the chain was stretched. So they are doing a valve adjustment, cam chain, and possibly a lil more. I was getting a lil knock going on when the engine got warm. They said it might be a rod or something. They are supposed to inspect it and call me. They are just slow as hell. Will prolly be a month before i get my bike back. I made an appt to take it in on the 6th, and dropped it off on the 4th. Still havent heard from them. I will call Monday if no word. Only 2 shops to choose from locally. I already gave the last shop the opportunity. Trying these people now. We'll see. Good luck with yours..

It is the wrong time of the year for service work at your local honda dealer or bike shop!
Right now they are making big money on accessories for new bikes, and majorengine work waits till they get time to pull the motor apart.
If you can wait till late fall or winter and sched your service then, you will get better service at that time of the year.

You can save some big time cash by having your bike torn down before dropping off your bike.
Take the seat, side panels, fairing side panels off, but leave the tank on and trailer or truck your bike to the shop.
At $65.00 per hour forlabor at the Honda Shop, you will save at least $150.00 on labor!
3/4 of an hour to remove and storeyour parts and 3/4 of an hour to put it all back together
And you wont have to worry about your paint getting beat up while your bike sits waiting for parts.

just an update. all the racket was because 3 of the plugs were loos ( plug holes had oil in them they were so damn loose!) and one was missing the armature. new plugs (checked the valves since we were almost there when we discovered the plugs.. everything looks great!) and she runs like a champ. cant beleive it was running as well as it was with the plugs so bad! I will get pics and post so you can see how bad the plugs were. thanks for the help boys! Eric
