If the calipers float like they're suppose to then there should be relatively even wear of the inside pad & the outside pad whether the paper shims are there or not. Also there is an anti rattle thingy in the caliper that Mr. Honda put in there, I along with others dont put those back in because of brake dust build up. No rattle thingy = less dust build up. With rattle thingy = more dust build up.
