final 1/4 mile results
It was a fun year. It wasan absolute adrenaline rush going down the track this year. My worst time was about a 14.5 when I first went to the track this year and improved to about a 13.00 after I made my needle adjustment on the next day at the track. My goal this summer was break into the 12s and I am proud to report I accomplished my goal.
My best4 times were: 12.949 12.980 12.996 12.996 My best reaction time was .535 In my opinion the two major factors for determining a good track time is a good reaction time and launch. After the staging lights I revved it up to about 7000 and then punched it as I released the clutch resulting in about a 8000-10000 rpm launch. No wheel spin or wheelies. For an 18 year old bike with almost 28,000 miles, I'm pretty proud of the ol' girl for what she still has left!! |

she's got some power huh? is this quarter mile times? I know these bikes arent like the very fastest out there, but still, 12 second times isnt bad.

I just realized that it says 1/4 mi in your topic line. been a long day fabricating a cafe seat for a friend.
I think honestly 12's are pretty good times for any bike built in the 80's. I feel very adaquate on my old Hurricane now. I'm sure with a little more practice, you could PROBABLY get that into the mid to low 12's probably. I got a buddy with a 1975 Yamaha 350 2 stroker that he's been building for like the last 3 months, and its actually turning into QUITE the project right now. when done, I estimate it'll be running something like 11's or so with him on it. |
