At a recent service, the shop found that my other half's CBR600FK fan had packed up and confirmed it was the fan, not the switch. I've now sourced a working second hand fan. How big a job is it to replace the fan? I've checked the Haynes manual, but it's not really clear. Has anyone done this please and can advise on time to set aside. I service and build classic Italian bikes, so all tools and stuff are to hand.
I haven't worked on your specific model but in general it's an easy task. You may/may not need to loosen or remove the radiator bolts to gain enough clearance. You stated that you build bikes so it really should be pretty breezy for you.
A couple of hours should do it, you will probably take longer removing the fairings than replacing the fan, the only issue could be seized bolts on the fan itself.
