Default f3 tail on an f1

I was thinking of going bigger on the rear tire but instead of tryingto fit a bigger tire I want to go bigger on the swingarm. That said can a f3 swingarm be put on an f1. labor is not a factor, I'm in school at Wyotech in Daytona Beach for Motorcycle tech school. P.s. if anybody needs any help let me know what it is, if I cant help i can get the help.

yo thats cool to know that it will mount up even with some fab work. What about a RR swingarm? and if so give details like m313 did.

yeah, i wrote that how-to.

the rr takes alot more work since you would have to chop off a lot of the swingarm to make it fit between the frame rails. i wouldn't recommend doing it because of how much material has to be removed, it could compromise the strength of the swingarm.

but going on, the main issue is the dogbones and the shock mount. all those have to be redone. if you can find closeup pics of a rr swingarm or the suspension mount under an rr, you will see how it attaches to the underside of the main frame. you would have to fab a mount and weld it.

and a real major problem is the chain alignment. as you go from wider rear tire to narrow engine, the chain starts to rub against the inside of the frame rail. a notch in the frame to allow chain clearance is necessary but frame strength takes a nosedive. and if a notch was put in, the output shaft would have to be extended to properly align the chain so the chain wouldn't wear out prematurely.

that's the gist of it.

ok i feel what you sayin. I guess I have to settle for the f3 swingarm. I thought the RR swingarm would look nice but if it wont match up then oh well. I saw somewhere on here that you did a RR front suspension swap. did you go from the triples down or just the forks, and if you went from the triple down let me know if you have to do any fabbing to the triple to make it fit. Also where or how did you put the ignition on the new triple?

you really should have a steering damper put on if you plan to do the above conversion.

if you have any questions after reading the above, ask me, post or pm.
