I took My old looking F1 exhaust to the benchgrinders wire brush today. After i hit it with 360 on a DA and then hand sanded it with 600 grit. Then i hit it with a polishing compound. Looks like freaking chrome. Very happy with it. Anyone think ill have problems with this exposed metal?

 

Yup. it will rust.

 

Im talking about the can. Its aluminum. Aluminum doesnt rust; no iron.

 

Only if you lean too far over and scratch it on the ground.

 

it will corrode if you dont keep polishing. you can try putting zoop seal on it, its what a lot of bikers use to seal up exposed aluminum like on wheels etc.

 

Thanks, yea I think you have to polish it at least once a month. Thats the advice i was looking for. Ill look into the seal

 

probably a lot more than once a month... I would almost assume twice a month, or maybe weekly, depending on how much you ride. like i said, zoop seal should work well for you
