Default Did I Put in wrong octane? 93 vs 87

Hello to all,

I Bought a 89 CBr600f for 300 bucks from a friend and it was running great. By mistake I put in 93 octane and it started running like crap. I drained the tank and put 87 octane back in and tried running it through for a while. Now it wont start unless the choke is all the way down and even then if I try to accelerate it stalls. Did I do something to the plugs and should replace them or could it be something else? Thank you in advance...

the gas isnt what caused the issue I can tell you that much. Prolly was some trash in the tank that just happen to get thru on the tank of 93. You can start by replacing the plugs and see if that fixes the issue. If not I would recommend to clean the carbs.

+1; you can throw 110 octane in that thing and it'll take it in stride. Swap your plugs, throw in some seafoam, clean the carbs.

110 octane would kill it! Well it probley wouldn't be good for the valves imho.

But all the 93 should have done was made it run a little rich. Have you been riding with the choke on? that would definatly foul the plugs. Maybe the fuel line got kinked when you drained it? Id also look at the fuel filter and see how dirty it is. Maybe even the petcock it a bit stuck. Hard to say.

I used to run 101 octane race fuel. It won't hurt the bike at all. You can feel improved power with the higher octane. Try a new fuel filter.

110 wouldnt hurt it at all, just your wallet lol. Our bikes are not setup to use 110 so anything other than pump gas is really a waste of $$. Now if you were to have the head shaved and have it tuned to run 110 is a diff story

dont think they make leaded gasoline at all anymore. But even if so it still wouldnt hurt anything. Its the other way around, in older engines designed to have lead in the fuel to help lube the valve stems running unleaded was bad
