Decoding Engine VIN # ?
 

I have an '87 CBR 600F but I think the engine may be from another year. How do I tell? The # stamped on the engine isn't quite the same as the VIN tag. I was able to decode the frame's VIN tag but the # stamped on the engine doesn't have the same amount or sequence of numbers and letters. Can anyone help please?
(The frame VIN tag says - JH2 PC 190X HM007855)
The engine says PC19E- 2019142 (this is what I need to decode)

The reason I'm asking is, I need a new carb for cylinder # 1. I think I read somewhere that the size of the carbs changed at some point. I think '87 and '88 were the same and then they went bigger for '89 and '90. Is this correct? Can't remember where I read that but I can't find it now.

I also found below a description of how the engine number works and in this case it would be a 88 engine as the first '2' would denote the second year of that production run.... possibly...

The serial number of the engine on Hondas made after the CB model prefix appeared in the 1960s works as follows:

Assuming SC48E-XYYYYYY for a serial:
SC48 = model code, can be as little as two or three characters
E = this serial number is for an engine, there are other parts with unrelated serial numbers on your bike
X = what year or variation of engine, where 1 = first year of bike, 2 = second year, 3 = third year, etc., etc. On some Hondas with a *really* long production run, this may be two or more digits, or it may even have letters (rare).
YYYYYYY = the actual serial number of the engine, what number it was in the production run. This does NOT always match the serial number part of the VIN number or chassis number on a Honda even on brand new showroom bikes.
