Default dead cane. CDI or R/R

Ok my girl has a 87 Hurricane she got last year for 350 bux. It runs ok and hasn't had any problems untill lately. While she has been riding it it recently started dieing. It starts back up ( doesn't start right away) but it did start untill 2 days ago. she was on the highway coming home and it just died. I went to check it out and it wouldn't fire for nothing. It just cranked and cranked till the battery was weak. So we trailered it home and tried again and still nothing. I checked for fuel and all was fine, so i check spark and it seemed ok but maybe weak, at least nothing like im used to from car ignition. So we give up, give the bike a nice full charge on the battery tender and about 5 hours later we tried to start it and it fired up like nothing was ever wrong.

prob the reg/rec. i had the same issue, you would think it was not just charging or something, then it would go away, come back, go away, come back. then i replaced the reg/rec, viola!

I think it is more a heat related ignition issue now. it runs great and then after a while it starts cutting out and then nothing. let it sit over night and it is all good.. what part would cause this??

the reg/rec. i would pretty much be willing to stake my life on it.

our bikes run hot already, so dont be mislead by that.
