Sure it's a great first bike, really easy to ride. Just make sure that the bike is in good condition, michigan_313 wrote some kick *** tips in this tread https://cbrforum.com/m_224762/tm.htm

RE: cbr600 f1 for first bike?
Hey, i've got 1989 cbr600f, its my first bike,
learnt on a crappy suzuki 500 so big change when i got this.
It got the best of everything if you can find a good one.
I found with mine its a bike with a split personality, it enjoys flying down 50mph in low revs but when you turn on the juice trust me you'll know about it.
My mate passed his test few year ago and has a r6, i only been riding 6 months and can already out run him on b roads cos to say it such an old and heavyish bike it handlers awsome.
I found its a great bike to build confidence - only down side i find is the brakes, they work well but not as sharp as alot of newer bikes, (more like a car)
Anyhows well reccomended, after 6 months of that bike you'll be craving for a fireblade lol
Hope helps
