I have thought this one over cause it has not really sat well with me. Loctite alone does not do the job that the lock tab is intended for. Loctite with the tab is a good plan. With the screw through the hole in the bracket, and the tab bent over, even if the screw unthreaded the tab would prevent it from entering the engine. I don't see an advantage to leaving it out.

Sorry for being a little off topic. But is there any thing you should do before you go get your carbs sync? And you mentioned the seafoam thing every 10 tanks, what is it and where can I get some?
Also since we kinda live in the same area Thrasher, who do you recomend to take your bike too, for a full service? And how much should I expect to pay?

Seafoam is a fuel conditioner/cleaner that you can buy at NAPA. I usually pick up a case when I go to the US since it is about half price there. The carbs should be clean before they are synchronized. I don't know who to recommend in our area... I got burned letting others twist wrenches on my stuff early and have done it myself since. My father was a mechanic so I did the 30 year apprenticship under him.

right on!, I just got burned really bad at the dealer here in Wetaskiwin, over a simple oil change. $116 bucks and they didn't even get the old filter off. They handed me a new one and told me I had to do it.
I have some mechanical appitude, I'm just not confident to do the full tune up. That and I don't have the tools. The Honda dealer in Reddeer in gasoline alley. Told me it would be about $250 to adjust the valves, and sync the carbs. Id like to get it done about Jan-Feb, so everythings good for spring. I was also wondering wheres a good place to get some new plastic? Seems like Honda is pretty expensive

Turples on gasoline alley isn't a bad place to go. That is where I bought my CBR100RR 08, GSXR750 08, GSXR750 97, and Hurricane 87. I let the oldYamaha dealership (gone now) work on my Virago in 1986 and they screwed it up...came out after a tune up and wouldhardly stay running. Turns out they incorrectly re-assembled the carbs...one of the main jets was laying in the bowl.So not having used a local dealership in 20+ years it is hard for me to give anyone the thumbs up.
