So the shop my bike's at calls me up and says they can't find aftermarket parts for the carb rebuild they are doing and can only get genuine Honda parts at double the original parts quote. Seems kinda of steep to me but they are saying parts are around 240 for the rebuild, is that a reasonable price for parts???

Don't have anything to compare that estimate to, but depending on what they are replacing it could be fair. The 4 rubber diaphrams are over $100 a peice.

So I guess my bike isn't quite on the priority list up at the shop it's in but progress is being made and after a call today I was told the bike would be done Saturday. I can't wait to take it out for my first real ride with it and after spending money at the shop to have it serviced it should run like a champ.

Paid $2000 for mine but as you can see I am way the hell up north and things are just more expensive. The bike is mint, not a sctatch with new brakes, tires, and recently completly had full mechanical tune-up.

Yea that's about where I'm at, 2000. 1300 for the bike and 700 at the shop, this bikes pretty much mint as well, tires and brakes are new, plastics are scratch free, where's your thread at oilers1967 I would like to take a look at your bike. And actually 2000 is not bad, a mint hurri can go for 2500.

Very nice looking 'cane Bizzy. I recently had the carbs rebuilt and synced at a local independent shop and the bike runs amazingly now. Cost me ~$320 (I had him do some other work too, but I believe that was the initial quote for the carbs). The parts were $155 of that. So I'm not sure if my guy was able to locate after market or just got a better deal on the parts.

I'm picking up the bike tomorrow morning, and will know the exact price breakdown, I know he quoted me at 377 just for labor on the carb rebuild, parts were supposed to be about 100 bucks or so but then the shop called and said parts would come out to 240, also had a oil change done and the plugs replaced. They also had came out to pick up my bike for 50, so all in all the total is 734. I had called the Honda dealership and they had quoted me at just a bit higher that's why I went with an independent local shop, the dealership was at 85/h rate and the independent shop is at 82/h rate not much cheaper.

My local independent is $65/hr. Maybe that is the discrepancy then. Because I know it was less than that. I had him do the oil, sparks, and rear brake rotor and pads, and it was just under $600.
