If all goes well, I will be getting the bike for $1100 this weekend. Meaning I hopefully will be on this forum a lot from now on.

Yeah, I think he realized it needs a couple hundred dollars of work just to be safely rideable. I need to get a rear tire mounted, is that something that is possible to do myself? I am going to do the brake work and could do the tire at the same time if there arent any special tools needed. Thanks.

well, to mount a tire you need one of those big revolving tire mounting machines. so that is a negative. it may be possible without but i dont know how hard that could be. you will just want to take the wheel off and take it to a shop.

save yourself the time and hassle and take it to a shop where it can be mounted and balanced. it is a lot easier to do than using a couple of tire irons, a 2x4, and few beers. mounting the tire isn't as bad as balancing it.

I have good and bad news. First the good, I now own the bike. Now the bad, it needs fork seals.

I called a local shop and they quoted me $180 to do the fork seals and $62 to mount and balance the rear tire. Sound like a decent deal to you? Honda wanted $190 plus parts for the fork seals.

At the honda shop by my house i was quoted 40 bucks a fork plus 20 for the seals. I only paid 600 for my 89 and it only has 12,000 miles, and all the plastic was there. People must jack the prices up this time of year.

WOW, that makes me feel like I was ripped off. That quote from honda... was that you taking the bike in or just taking the forks in? Thanks.

me taking the forks to them. It will be easy for me though right now my bike is in a hundred pieces, waiting for my plastic to be finished. I wouldn't feel ripped off, I've seen most people pay 1000 and up for bikes like these, i just got lucky. The bike used to be my girlfriends brothers, then he sold it to his cousin. and then it sat. I called him and asked if he was ready to sell and he was so i snatched it up. I had to put new brake pads on the back, and put in new plugs, change the oil and filter, and then i rode it. so before i started modding i had maybe 720 bucks in it.
