first of all, rotors ARE expensive. secondly, you just have to know where to look. there is actually lots of stuff out there for the F1, but like i said, you have to know where to look. of course you can always ask us here and we will let you know. ill see if i cant find a better deal on a rear rotor for you. you dont need fronts do you?

here is one a little cheaper:

you have to also keep in mind EBC is a name brand. stock rear rotors from honda are like $140 each. if you were referring to OEM parts earlier, you can go to: http://www.mrcycles.com/fiche_select.asp and look up parts numbers and then go to: http://www.servicehonda.com/parts.php to look up the prices. Service Honda is the cheapest to get parts from.

RE: 89 Rear Brake Rotor
Thanks again. I just didn't realize that a single rotor was that expensive. I bought 2 front rotors for my previous car for $50. No big deal though. I am glad you mentioned they are expensive because that will factor into my purchase.
I am looking at an 89 CBR 600. It needs paint, all the plastic is off minus the headlight plastic. The tank is in good shape, but has some bubbled paint. A couple of the small plastic pieces are missing some tabs, and I would have to buy the mounting screws/etc. for the plastics. The bike has a K&N filter and some kind of exhaust. The owner has a new rear tire for it, but needs to be mounted. And obviously it needs rear pads and possibly a rotor. It has 20000 miles and seems to run good and ride straight. Other than that, I don't know much about it.
From that description can you give me an idea of what you would buy this bike for? I realize you can't give me an exact number, but he is asking $1300 and that seems high to me.

thats not that bad, but plastics will run you a couple hundred, offer him something lower and see what happens, he may be hoping for someone to pay that much. i was offered $1400 for my bike, it has 38000 miles on it and needs paint. i have done alot of work on it and its worth more than that to me. what you have to also consider is, can you get another bike that runs and has 20000 miles for $1300? if its too much for you, dont get it, but without seeing the bike its hard to say what its worth.
KBB is showing it as $2000. 20000 miles is lower than average for a 20 year old bike. First link is dealership asking price, which is always high, and the second link is for trade in value, which is always low, and it says about $1300. i would say $1300 is about fair, but remember these evals are based on models that are assumed to be in MINT condition. try to work with the guy on the price, he may have had it for awhile and not had any takers. offer him like $1000 or $1100, the worst that can happen is he says no.

RE: 89 Rear Brake Rotor
Thanks rrasco, I appreciate all your help. I am going to make an offer on it tonight, and will let you know how it goes.
One last question is, if I do buy the bike tonight, where is a good place to find brake pads of the rear? The rotor may be salvageable, but it needs pads for sure.
Thanks again.
