89 cane worth it? opinions please
hi guys I have a cane that I've been looking at. it's an 89 with 32.5k miles. guy is asking 1700 but I don't believe it's worth that much imo
Good: Fork seals recently redone, is including brand new brakes for both front and back, electronics work, throttle/clutch fine, shifts normal, tires have good amt of tread on them still
Bad: needs new brake fluids for front and back, battery may need to be replaced, carbs have not been cleaned for 1.5+ years, needs new chain, right access door/inspect. panel missing, rear fairings are ziptied on
other: has expected damages on fairings after 20 years
I've offered the guy 1400 but that' as high as I will go. am I getting my money's worth? thanks

that's a bit high, I bought my '89 with 25k miles and brand new o-ring chain and sprockets, tires, brakes, carbs freshly cleaned and synced, front fairing had a huge crack in it the right lower fairing is trash....for $1050, I knew the guy it was my wifes best friend's husband, but still, I think they blue book for 1400 in perfect condition..i was wrong 1700, but that's a perfect bike, which the one you're looking at is not obviously..

clean hurricanes go for 1700, i've seen perfect looking ones with asking price of 2300 and up.
depends how it runs, but with zip tied fairings, that price is too high. you have to expect to do some work if you're looking at a cheap old bike like these. but i would try and go lower, closer to 1000, and thats only if it starts right up. hard to tell without actualy riding how it will perform, but with sketchy brakes, that might be tough to do.
