Default 88 CBR600 pistons and rings

Hi all, My son and I picked up a 88 Cane for $150 on a whim from a guy who just really needed the money. We really didn't need it as we are 10 months into a CB350/400/466 cafe racer project. (that's a 350 with a 400 engine , bored to 466). Anyway now I'm trying to figure out what to do with the 600. It's missing a few pieces that can be found easy enough (air box, resovior bottle, plastic, headlight, speedo).

It also has a small frame crack that I can weld easy enough as well as a motormount crack on the case which I can't weld. Water had entered the motor and #2 and 3 were stuck. I got the motor off and after a hell of a battle I got the jugs off the pistons. Needless to say the rings are frozen on the pistons.

After looking around I don't see much available in the way of pistons and rings. Any ideas ? It has crossed my mind to just part out the good motor parts and look for another motor. There is no damage past the pistons , bottom end is fine.

Any thoughts on which way to proceed ?

Far easier to go the motor swap route. Your bottom end might sit a while on ebay but there's bound to be someone who needs it. Try to find a 1990 engine and carbs; they reworked it that year for an extra five ponies with different cams, ignition ring, and larger carbs.
