any time you're dealing with chains, dont use a previously used master link with a new chain. its just BEGGING for problems. get a brand new master link and dont sweat it.

installation should be simple. remove your old chain, take the rear wheel off and use the appropriate size socket to remove rear sprocket, though I recommend keeping your old chain on to hold front still while you remove the nut, THEN remove the rear wheel and sprocket.

bring your chain with you when you buy a master link. you need to use a specific link for the chain. like previously said, dont use an old link. i just put a new 520 sproket and chain on my bike. i had to cut links off to make it fit, and i had to rivet the new master link on.

Dont use a clip style link on any street bike. Like said you will a master link match to what ever brand n pitch (520 etc) chain that is. Stock pitch is like 530/535. Different manufacturers use diff size pins too, so get a EK for a EK, RK for a RK etc. Its best to have a rivet press tool, but it can be done with a hammer n punch.

I"ve run clip style links before. ONLY if they are incorrectly installed do they come undone. open end should be facing rearward on the TOP side of the swingarm, so that inertial forces dont allow it to slide off.

but I like the rivet style link. when installed, ABSOLUTE ZERO CHANCE OF FAILURE if assembled correctly.

and btw, a DID 530 master link fits an RK 530 chain just fine. I accidentally ordered a DID link for my chain, not realizing I bought an RK chain, but it works just fine. fit is the same as the RK master link.

well notice the difference in acceleration. And will be more responsive when cruising in higher gears.
