Default 2000 CBR 600F cutting out after 2mins

Hi All,

My cbr600f seems to be having trouble getting fuel and I'm struggling to find out the reason.

I put the choke on start the bike up which starts up fine. Within 2 mins the revs start to drop and cuts out. I go to start the bike up again and it just ticks over.

It seems like the fuel isn't getting through, anyone got any ideas or have experienced this?

Cheers

Phill

Have you tried bypassing the Fuel Pump and feeding the carburetors directly?

to be honest I wouldn't know where to start. Do you think it could be the fuel pump which has gone and is there away for me to check if it is?

If you look in this diagram Hose #14 comes from the fuel filter #10 and goes to the Fuel Pump item #5. Then hose #15 goes to the carburetors. Either connect hose #14 and #15 directly together (temporarily as a test to see if it will keep running. This is not intended to be permanent) or see if you can connect hose #15 to where hose #14 connects at the fuel filter #10. Once it's connected, see if you can start the bike and have it keep running for more than a couple minutes.

There is a procedure in the manual for performing a flow test of the fuel pump. Need the manual for that description.

So you replaced it and it's working now? Or you were able to tell that it wasn't running when the bike was running? I see fuel pumps on ebay but don't know how good they are. New ones from Honda are over $100 and ebay for under $30.

I ended up having to take it to my local garage and he checked the pump and it was full gunk so he cleaned it up and working fine now but got a new one coming this week so it's going to replaced
