Nice job Ken, that water based stuff that is EU mandated now is tough to work with.
The Oil based stuff we can still get here from Colorite is a lot easier and applies much
more consistently and is much longer lasting & less chip prone too.

i hear ya sprock.
got a roll of oxford paint protection film, and i'v made a guard bra, and fitted bits down the sides where it was bad before.

i'll give it a year, and wee bit of heat and take it off and polish it up. then fit some new bits.
i even fitted it on the forks.

cheers sebby, i'm not showing a pic of the clear chip protector in the front,, as it shows up all the bumps and bits in the paint.
i didn't get it compounded, just fired it on.
still its protected a bit.
if ya seen it up close, ya'd slap my Ma.
pics do make it much better, then i'v been selective

Ken,
I have my forks out atm getting seals etc done. What did you use to strip back the fork legs ? After seeing yours I think I will paint mine while they are out of the bike. They are terribly chipped after 9 years. I'm happy to paint them and if they need re doing in 12 months time, fine. Its not a big job taking the forks out. I have a small sand blasting gun I bought a few weeks back. Would that suit to strip the metal back for a new paint job ? Do I need to prime the legs etc. I'm not a painting guru. I know nothing about it.....lol. Cheers.

i'd a wire wheel attachment on a 4 inch grinder, just cut it right down.
regular aerosol primer, but such a light dust coat from way back, or a fly by with a big swing of the arm.
i was more worried the aerosol might react to the top coat, which is why i went light.
wet on wet, my forks are same paint as the bike,
where you will likely go for an alloy look.

p.o.pisz '' go for it.

don't forget the roller bearing in the fork for the brake mount, tape it up nicely.
