however keep in mind, that yoshimura is a suzuki teamed company
Maybe you missed the Yoshimura Supercross Honda team. Or perhaps the Polaris ATV championship that Yoshimura sponsors.
I guess Dupont Paint is only good for chevrolet's too.
getting back, I like mine. I have an 05 with a yosh pipe on it. Its fairly loud, but I think thats due to the short style muffler more than anything. Its a bit raspy, so if you like deep tone exhaust go with something else. On a scale of 1-10 of raspyness, I'd give it an 8. On a scale of loudness compared to others, I'd give it a 7. Akropivic will be far deeper and quieter, but also more expensive. I'd give the Akro a 4 on the loudness scale and a 2 on the raspyness scale.
But anything over stock is going to sound better IMOP.
As far as how they compare performance wise. For a slip on, they are all about the same. They will all offer a slight increase in power, 3-5 hp across the board. It wont be until you get into full systems and mapping that you would see big differences in companies with thier power output and torque curves.

I got a Yoshi on my 06 1000 and it sounds pretty mean. Not too loud but you hear it just fine. It actually just changed it's tone after about 500 or 600 miles after I installed it. Sounds even better! I think it's all a personal preference though ... plus the economy is changing a lot of peoples minds on how they shop. Go with what you pocket can afford ...
but I would stay away from D&D (been there done that) ... frickin' loud!!!!

Everyone on the board knows I'm partial to 2Bros ... very deep with zero raspy. Big gains? Gimme a break ... a full system with PCIII and dyno tune will give you squat for real HP. 150-160hp is attainable at speed (ram air). If you want more than that then you gotta spend mass quantities of $$$$
