RE: who here has had a 1000 ad their first bike?
I bought the 1krr on memorial weekend. Its a fun bike and definately fast but it does require alot of attention especialy from a new rider like my self. Before buying the bike i had rode an r6 and thought it was ok but im really glad i bought the 1krr. The first day i had it i scared the crap outa myself on it and ive been takin it easy ever since and ridin it almost everyday (the only days i couldnt were when the damn trop storm came through...f#$kin florida weather sucks sometimes!). If ur lookin to buy one as your first bike i suggest takin it real easy on the wrist cause the front tire likes to come up and just cause u have a 1krr doesnt mean u have to be like every other jackass on the road that has a bike and swerve through traffic. Ease your way into it. Dont worry it doesnt take that long to feel comfortable on it.

Just bought one, but it hasn't been delivered yet. I am expecting it this weekend. I started a thread "I DID IT!!!" to get everyone's feedback about a CBR1000 as a first bike. Overall, my experience is that most will say don't do it, but the ultimate decisions and responsibility is yours. I will let you know how I've done when I get a few days experience.

i got mine in april. bought it off of a friend and he had to ride to my house because i had no idea how to ride. went down once but i would have gone down on a 600 also just being stupid and missed a turn. i was asking this same question on another forum and they told me i was going to die and stuff like that. my opinion is that a bike is as fast as you ride it.

i agree. i just got mine!! i have ridden motorcycles before, but not a lot and not a sportbike. i havent ridden on it yet but there are a lot of people that say i'm gonna kill myself. idk though but there are also a lot of people that say it can be done, just be very cautious.
