Upgrade 919 sc33 to cbr 1000rr?

Hello,
I was thinking about to do a upgrade and sell my 1997 cbr 919 and buy a cbr 1000rr. Think i can afford a 2009-2012. Will it be worth it? Are these years reliable? Any known errors?

Those are great years for CBR1000RR. Finally lost lots of extra weight gained after 954RR. Good powerband and easy to control. Amazing value on used market.

However, be sure to get pre-purchase inspection from competent shop. Couple hundred bucks spent beforehand can save you thou$and$ in repair bills later. Check:

- engine compression, this is most expensive repair if you get bunk engine
- brakes: rotors, pads, hoses, fluid
- suspension: fork & shock smooth, no clanks, no leaks
- wheel-bearings smooth, wheels straight?
- chain & sprockets

Had an 08 it was an oil burner rings or valve seals were suspect. Sold it asap.
had an 2012 1k. No complaints. Sold it though needed the money.
now have a 16 1k non abs version. that's all the bike I need. Good at everything. Light with good power. Be careful with 08-11 for heavy oil consumption. You can find some that are not burners if you shop carefully. Get a 12+ if possible

Ok, so the oilburning existed on 2009 models also? I tought that this was fixed on the 2009 models?

Some do some don't. You won't know until after you buy it and ride a while or have it inspected thoroughly beforehand. Just get a 12+ you will not regret it.
they say the oil burner issue was fixed in 09 but how do you know for sure the one you get wont? that's a chance you take when buying used. Your chances Of oil consumption problems are significantly lower with a low mileage 12+

I had a 954 oil burner too. (Half qaurt or more per 200 miles) I noticed it burned oil after about few weeks of riding after buying. I just put up with it a while. I has it on a dyno and was able to see when I puffed out the black smoke on decel especially. Could have been rings or valve seals. I dont know sold it shortly after that. It still made around 140 hp though.
