Default Tranny that whines....

Ok.. I gotta 06 1000rr and I've got about 1800 miles on it. Recently, I've noticed what I interpret to be a bit of tranny whine. When I'm in 6th gear and I hit right around 4,000 rpms, I hear an odd, high pitched noise and after about 4300 rpms, it's gone. It's only in 6th, and only around 4k. Any clues??

also, when I do hard braking, I hear a little growl out of the front end and the bars feel a little loose, but only as I get close to a stop. What about that??

thanks for any advice or help....

I feel the same shake in the bars when braking, almost like something is loose. Somebody mentioned I was possibly bottoming out the front suspension. I am probably going to increase my front-preload anyhow since I am 220 lbs anyhow.

Anyone else have a better explanation for that front-end shake when braking and coming to a stop?

Same here. I'm thinking the stock pads aren't very good.

I've got an '05 with the same whine. I spoke to the shop and they said to bring it in since it wasn't normal.

If your '06 is still under warranty, it might be worth having it looked at. If they find nothing then at least you've asked the question.

Mine goes in to the shop in the next few days. If they find something, I'll let you all know.

My '05 has got a little whine to it, but I don't worry about it. It does that front-end thing when hard braking as does my RC51, so again, I don't worry about that either!
