Default stalled 2006 wont start

Riding home from work down shifted from 2nd to 1st and the bike bogged and died. Turns over just won't start does starting it in neutral rule out the kick stand switch? Mods just a pipe and it has 20k miles on it

Do you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the key?

Will it start in neutral but not stay running in any gear? If that's the case it sounds like a stuck or defective kick stand switch or loose connection somewhere in that circuit.

Ok just took the seat and fairings off. Positive bat. cable was a little loose, no blown fuses and can hear the fuel pump buzz when turning the key on. Wont start kick stand up, down, or in nuetral. I can hear the fuel pump turn off and on with the kill switch. Under the seat there is a regular size 30amp spare fuse attached to what i believe is the stater siliniod, everything i see is mini fuses. Anyone know what that fuse goes to and is there any other fuses besides the 6 or so mini fuses under the left fairing.

Stupid question...... Is there gas in it? I know it sounds silly, but if you would, make sure and double check.

Update, after being in two different dealerships for two months they found the problem. A small quarter size cap at the end of the camshaft came out and broke the end of the cam position sensor off. The sensor ohmed out good from the outside of the motor but wouldnt read the cam so in turn would give spark or fuel to the cylinders. They said they have only seen this once before and it was just back luck.

wow, that is bad luck. I've never heard of that happening.

Thank you for updating though. So many threads go without a resolution, its nice to see someone taking the time to give closure to an issue.
