Size?

I'm trying to convince someone who's 6'6 225lbsl not to buy a 1000 for his first bike. He's rode other bikes and a bit of offroad but never a super sport. He feels that a 600 is not big enough (physically). Whats everyone's take on this?

It really all depends on him as a rider. Have him ride a few to see which feels the best. Make sure you let him know that physically, a 600 pretty much has the same (If not exactly the same) seat height as a 1k. But regardless, make sure he gets a honda ;)

Not much difference in the ergos on a new 600RR and a 1000RR. Either one will be plenty more than a noob really needs. Tell him to control the right hand regardless of which model he chooses.

I strongly believe in starting on a 500 or 600 and working your way up.

I am about 6' 215 lbs and I was very happy with my 02 F4i. It had good power and it was very comfortable.

I upgraded because my new girlfriend loves to ride on the back and I thought it felt slower with both of us on it. Shes 5' 8ish and weighs about 130ish. My new 08 1000rr gets us around great.

I would suggest he starts out with a nice F4i. You can get them cheap and they are a great bike.

The 1/4 inch difference here or there in "size" won't make any difference. The power of a 600 will get him around faster than a new riders needs. The F4i will be a bit less twitchy than an RR and therefore a tad more foregiving when the inevitable noob mistakes happen.

Thanks everyone I think he's going with a 600. And yes whatever he gets, it will be a Honda!
