replaced an 05 seat with an 06...

Anyone that may be interested, I have an 05 1000RR with a horrible seat. Those that have the 04-05 should know what I mean. sitting on what feels like a piece of wood is no fun for a long ride. Well, I read and article about the 06-07 having a new seat foam. So, I bought a seat from an 06. It is way more forgiving than the 05. It is way more comfortable. I havent had a chance to ride with it, as it is winter. But just by sitting on it, you can tell the difference is big.

Anyone looking to replace thier 04-05 seat should try it out before dropping a ton of money on an aftermarket one.

the best part, I got one on ebay for 25 bucks shipped.. Cant beat that for more comfort.

I didn't notice any difference when I sat on my friend's '06 but it was only for a minute and I wasn't really looking for it. I'll have to pay attention to that next time.

Its been awhile since I last posted on this topic, but I just recently got to riding as the weather has been better. and for the verdict: the 06 seat is far better than my 05 seat. I put on 150 miles recently without any PITA at all. Just for ****sandgiggles, I put back on the 05 seat before my next ride. I didnt make it 20 miles before I got sore. I went back home, swapped the seat back to the 06, and instant comfort. I rode an addtional 50-60 miles that day without any soreness.

Its odd, they are the exact same shape, same amount of padding, but the 06 seat is so much more forgiving.

So, anyone with an 04-05 1000RR getting a sore butt, its a very cheap upgrade to an 06-07 seat.

could be that yoru 04-5 seat was "WORN".. as the 04-07 seats are IDENTICAL in every way .. just my 2cents

The seat material was revised according to Cycle World in their March 2006 intro of the revised/improved CBR1000RR. The article cites back to back rides and the "seat of the pants" impression was an improvement over earlier models.

tehy can cite what they want .. i can tell you side by side they are IDENTICAL and no way to tell apart 1 from the other .. being as i have a 2005 with 3000 miles and 2007 with 310 miles and 2006 with 3800 miles.. i can tell you they are all the same

thrasher572 05-03-2009 06:30 PM

The difference is they got the info from the manufacturer.
