Default Rear Seat Cowl

I used the search feature and its not working. Does anyone have a rear seat cowl and how do you get it more flush or closer to the bike? It comes with washers and the instructions say to increase the gap to add the washers, but I want to decrease the gap so it sits more flush to the bike.

Honda needs lessons from Suzuki on how to make the rear seat cowl fit correctly from the factory so I don' t have to dick with it. $180 I should be able to just slap it on instead of making these adjustments and it doesn't seem to fit smoothly and correctly.

Same problem here. I added washer to the rear, then the front, then took washers away, switched out the factory washers, gave up and switched everything back to the way it was shipped.

mine is flush by taking out all the washers. ...you want a little gap so the plastic does not rub together!!!!

on my 1000rr i have the hondaline cowl, but for a 600rr......mine sat perfectly level without washers but too far to the rear, i had to slot the black inner piece slightly to get it to move further toward the rider.....fits great now and does not rub the paint off the tail section and tipsof the cowl

you want the gap all the way around

no gap means that the cowl's vibration will rub the paint right off of the tail

i used 1mm clear tape around the cowl seat with out removing anyhing. it will rub......but it doesnt damage the paint. i've had mine for 6 months. it took the tape off just to check it about a week ago....still perfect.

home depot sells 1mm thick clear tape...made by 3m. it cost about 2.99....of course you have to cut it to your measurements...it is perfect fit.
