Radiator Fan
Hi guys, have a quick question. My radiator fan usually would come on around say 210 degrees before. I noticed recently that it comes on at way lower temps now, usually at 180, but it even came on today at 173. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

What was the bike doing at the time? If you hold the RPM at 2500 or so when the bike is sitting still, the fan will come on even ifthe engine is relatively cool(160-170 degrees). My bike was in neutral when I noticed this, I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Not too long ago I noticed radiator fluid on the right side of the bike after a ride. I took the lower fairing off and tightened the clamps for the coolant hoses, then started the bike to see if I had any leaks. It was sitting in the garage running and I was going to let it sit 'til the fan kicked on at the usual (hot) temperature. The fan kicked on way early, like at around 160-170, but at a slower speed. I couldn't hear it, but I felt the air moving, then looked down and saw that it was running. It went off and then came on again when I expected and I could hear it this time 'cause it was blowing at the usual fast speed. I was surprised that it did this, but I don't think anything's actually wrong, 'cause it comes on like normal when it gets hot. I don't know if this is normal or not, but I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it!
I made the same post about this like 4 months ago and glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Mine comes on at random low temps but also turns on when it should at about 220 F. I started mine up the other day to let oil circulate and the fan turned on when it was about 150 F and about 32 F outside temp. I first noticed the fan on when I approached a stoplight and previously doing about 50 mph continuously for about 10 miles or so.

Thanks again everyone for chiming in. I guess I'll double check all my fluids and see if it still persists. Hopefully the dealership will be helpful with this when I take it in for the recall. Happy Holidays everyone.
my fan comes on at 207. but, my bikegets hotter even when the fan is on. the only way to cool it is to get moving again. my question is, how hot is too hot.? my brother in law has the same bike(05 1krr) and he says 220. wtf! that is only13 degrees hotter than when the fan comes on. and in traffic, there is no way to cool down. i usually pull over and shut down or take a turn and try to avoid traffic, even if it means taking a different route to where i'm going. do i need to do that?
