Default R1 or CBR 1000rr????

Asking input for a new bike.
I know both bikes are very capable and will exceed my abilities.
I ride an '88 Hurricane CBR1000F for long trips, which I'll keep and I'm 6'2" and 220lbs.
Ergonomics for both I know is tight, but which one is less crunched or hurt less on a long trip???
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Your asking in the wrong forum buddy, we all chose 1000RR so your gonna know the answer

I chose the 1000RR for the handling, the R1 is faster and has a fraction more hp stock, but hey it`s how you ride that matters and i gladly settled for better handling over power. I`ve also shown several R1 riders that my bikes not as slow as they assume by wuppin there ***.

R-1 looks nice but not as comfy + she's been known to buzz @ fwy cruisin speeds

i'm a little smaller & wider than ya are so can't say how well she'll fit you

nonetheless i did notice that my wrists started to ache much sooner on a yzf-r1 than on my cbr1000rr where i ALSO have at least 3-5 inches to slide my weight around

for 06 my bet is that the gsxr with under-chassis exhaust will lead the pack in power

O i`m 6` dead, once i got used to the bike it`s comfy and i can`t complain for what it is........ a sportsbike. With a little tweaking of the riding position (rearsets etc) you shouldn`t have any problems.

You go with what you like. I personally like the Honda's looks the best. The 06 is looking pretty sweet and they tweaked it a bit more. All of the bikes are going to have roughly the same HP, give or take a few, but trust me, you wont notice it that much. I also went with the Honda because I read all of the info and everyone says it's the most comfortable bike and most forgiving. My brother has an R-1 and it just feels weird. The power feels good but I didn't notice anything different at all. True you are asking in the wrong forum, but I'm sure you will get the same answer from the R-1 side. Good luck. Go Honda!

Yeah the R-1 guys will say how under powered but pretty our 1k is. But they shut up when you learn your bike and spank that AZZ. Long trips the 1k Egonomically is better I think. I have been on 500 mile trips and my *** was hurting a little but I wasn't grabbing my back and neck like my buddies on the 05 R-1's.

Ergonomics.....I took a 9 hour trip from Havelock, NC. to Atlanta, GA. in just over 6 hours. Got off the bike twice for gas and once to eat.....and what was the bike...2001 Honda CBR 929 RR. No undue pain, streamlined and comfortable while lying on the tank. Top that on a yammie! Honda4life!!! Got Honda!.....no.....get one!

I owned a '00 & a '02 R1 - loved them, great bikes. I now own a '05 1000RR, it's a vastly better bike to 'live with'. The R1 is a nasty minx, but she a demanding mistress. She'll goad you into more & deeper, then she'll turn on you in a blink. The R1 is the King of Fling... Highsides R Us. I would venture to say it's the most crashed litre bike by the % numbers. It's a beauty... it's exciting... but it bites sooner & harder than the RR.

The RR is the one you wind up keeping for years. It can be critisized for being not as exciting as the Gixxer/Zed Ex Ten/R1; I beg to differ - it is simply more compident. It will not catch you out 'in a moment'. It will make a good rider look great, and a great rider look like a biking god. It quite simply does nothing wrong & most things very, very well.

I've put 8K on since late April. A buddy (owns a '04 RR) and me rode 1950 miles this July going to the USGP in 10-days. We've made similar up-grades: Arata rearsets, double bubble, Throttlemeister, Sargent seat, braided brake lines (I also have the matching clutch line). I would consider these a must if you rack up a tonne of miles. I'll probably have about 12,000 miles by its April anniversary date. I've done other mods but would not call these critical, they are more like personalizing the bike.

You will not ever regret the RR.

Cheers

Sup man, I'm 6'1" 215 and have NO problems on my 1000RR. I'll have to agree with mene. above on the R1 being a little buzzy at freeway riding. One of my riding friends has the 04 R1 and complains about the buzzing all of the time. He also complains about a bit of headshake when we're making those 150mph+ backroad blasts. He wishes he had a steering damper like my 1000rr. Get the Honda, find a REPSOL if you can.

I test rode the 2 and think there pretty similar, i agree the R1 is more buzzy and the screen seems lower too. But i picked the cbr1000rr cos it looks better!
