its the best Honda has produced to date. A few had a oil burning problem when first released but seems to have been fixed.

I think for me, the '08 1K is the best machinery ever built by far. It's nimble, crazy torque, quite flickable on the twisties (much better than my previous Honda 1K), plently of HP, light weight that packs a very serious "PUNCH". I've ridden plently of bikes and grant it, I think bikes in general have issues-one way or another. With the fixed recalls on the '08 model, I still do have to keep an eye of the oil levels every few hundred miles. No leaks but oil does tend to go lower thus some burning/dissappearing but for me no big issue. Funny but my older '04 1K used to do the same in regards to the lose of oil, therefore also check the oil levels-so I guess you can say that I'm used to it..lol All in all, I truly luv this machine and at 12,500 miles I ain't giving her up yet until about 18,000 miles then looking to but another Blade ! Hope this helps with your choosing bro !

Default Huh

I have an 05 CBR 1000 that will smoke any of the 08 out. You guys talk about the bikes but you can take any year bike do some mods and make it as fast as you want. The 08 is the ugliest Honda released to date other than the F4I. Buy a bike you like and quit worrying about what other people think..... your the one riding it not them, and i have ridin yamaha half my life and love the R1.

Put the same mods on an '08-'09 and an '04-'07 and the '08-'09 stomps its predecessors.

Appearance of course is purely subjective. What is not subjective is the '08-'09 is worlds better than the '06-'07 let alone the '04-'05.

Yamahas are turds.
i think that smells of pwnnaggeeeeeeee

what i think of my o8. it is the lightest torquiest litre bike i have ever ridden as for overall power i think it is down. the bike has very quick turn in and pretty good brakes stock. with a brakeline upgrade power commander and timing box revalve in the rear shock and the correct rate spring it has tremendous drive out of corners. almost to much but still signs off a little early hopefully a set of cams will fix this. my bike bone stock on a dynojet dyno with 1200 miles on it made 146.7 horsepower. my previous r1 bone stock made 156.8 after the power programmer and timing box and about 6 hours on the dyno it made 154.5 with a stock exhaust and still a stock air filter. my r1 had a lot more parts on it but made 186.7 horsepower on the same dyno so you who think r1 are turds are wrong. they do catch on fire and burn to the ground though... reason for cbr. as a track bike the cbr even though has less power is over a second faster with me as the rider though the r1 was easier to ride. no abrupt torque spikes. like in the apex of a corner at 6-7 thousand rpms the cbr either has abrupt wheelspin or the front end comes up or both, the r1 just accelerated until about 9000 rpm then the front end would climb. as far as front end styling it is not an r1 but has grown on me and can say i like it. the finish quality is second to none and minus the small amount of oil consumption and the dealer screwing up my clutch has been problem free with atleast 15 track days and several canyon rides
