RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
Stock oil for the 1kRR is 10/40 ... all 10/30 stuff is "energy conserving" and is not recommended for bikes.

RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
Synthetic can dry your seals earlier I would not recommend using it. Castrol make a motorcycle oil 10/40 I used this in all my bikes for years with no problems. I ge tthe filter from the dealer.

RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
Synthetic shouldn't hurt your seals. Synthetic IS dino oil that has been refined so that all the HC chains are the correct length. This means there is less burning off and therefore less acid produced which is what eventually kills your oil. Some of the synthetics contain moly which can make your clutch slip. I've never had a problem with clutch slippage with less than 300 hp[8D]

RE: Oil Change Knowledge???

RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
I've always used Honda oil. I just bought about a dozen quarts and a few filters. This works great when you have to drive an hour just to get to the dealer like I do.

RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
I cant believe another oil post
dino/synth it doesnt matter you can put synth car oil like mobil 1 red or gold cap in your bike the day you get it home from the dealer mobile M108 car filter is a direct replacement but some honda dealers say that it will void your warranty i stick with K&N because i safety wire plain honda GP4 the normal dino stuff has more moly than repsol 4t full synth |
RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
When is recommended to switch to full synthetic oil?
|
RE: Oil Change Knowledge???
as soon as you get it home from the dealer
dont let anyone say you cant either because the honda manual says that you can use HP4 and doesnt not say anything about waiting (coincidently it doesnt say anything about rpm limits for break in either) as long as the synth meets the oil requirements listed in your manual you are good to go the oil cannot contain moly however, it will ruin your clutch repsol synthetic has less moly that honda gp4 dyno oil btw |
