As my handke suggests, I own a CBR1100xx Blackbird as well as a CBR1000rr (Repsol replica body). I have owned the big bird for several years, but only just bought the 05 Repsol. Obviously, for its' day, the CBRxx was very fast. It feels like a cruise missle at speed. However there is hardly any perception of speed. Around town it is completely docile and actually pretty slow. It is only when you get it up around 7k rpm that the landscape blurs. the CBR1K, on the other hand, is violently fast in comparison. It will take a while to get used to 150 hp and 400 lbs vs 135 hp and 560 lbs! Anyone else have experience on both and can offer a compare / contrast?

having an actual sport bike, now, I intend to take the Blackbird all the way sport touring with Givi topcase and side panniers.

 

Actually, various owners have made similar comments about the earlier versions of the 1000RR versus the 08+ 1000RR.
