New 1000RR but kept my 900RR
What is the '97900 worth .. need to sell .. 19000 miles never been down .. Red .... only used for touring .. I have never had the wheel off the ground ... new sprockets and chain 200 miles ago ... new battery in spring of '07 .. it has never needed anything else.
When I look at the two bikes I'm not sure I made a good decission in buying the 1000 .. I love the 900 so much ... when I get to ride the new 1000 next spring I will probably change my mind. I took a look at the '08 model (yuk) and since I could get a great deal on an '07 right now I took it. New '07s are going for 8999 on ebay now I paid a bit more from a local dealer.
I put 15 miles on it getting it home and it felt like I was on top of the bike more than when I ride the 900.
Anyway what is a mint 900 worth these days? I just don't have room for 4 bikes

RE: New 1000RR but kept my 900RR
I went from a 97 900RR to an 06 1000RR and I am so glad I made the change!
I agree, the 900 is a great bike, but in contrast it feels more like an overweight 600. There has been such an improvement in power and handling that I can't see how you wouldn't fall in love with your new 1000.

I also had a 900RR, red 96 to be exact. It had 60,000 miles before a high stress wheelie spun a bearing or two! Craig sold it for me on his list for $2000. The fairings were in great shape and the bike in general was given great care. Then came along my CBR1000RR. Within a few days, I had buyers remorse mainly since GMD Computrack performed a complete suspension setup on my 9RR. The "feel" of my 1000 wasn't the same of course, until I went to Blood Mountain or Blueridge Mountains in North Georgia. I remember saying to myself, "what 900?" I was a firm believer in Honda's ability to put out a machine very capable of handling anything you'd encounter on the street. Keep riding and I'm sure you'll forget about that 9RR
