Default Need help identifing something on the motor

My bike has had a small oil leak since I bought it. I tore it apart today to find a very slap a$$ fix on the motor.

I chipped off all the plumbers putty to find that the leak is coming from a faulty weld.

I plan to get this fixed. The question I have is what is the linkage the putty was gooped around? I took the linkage off and turned the screw but found it only goes so far each way. where does the screw need to be set?

Looks to me like it's an adjuster to set the backlash on your balancer.

Regardless, I probably wouldn't have just pulled the pinchbolt out and started turning it if I didn't know what it was. And I definitely wouldn't start the motor without the adjuster held tight.

I'd have it pro welded and then set the adjuster to the spec in the manual.

looks like the vetzer valve is obv. busted....

ide way from the looks of it... simplest fix would be replace the part all together...

is probably thin cast aluminum which cant be easily welded....

whatever it is??????????????
