Mixing tire brands?

Mixing tire brands?
Any thoughts on mixing tire brands front-to-back? I rolled my bike inside last night and noticed I hadpicked up a nice, big 4D nail in my rear tirelast night (about halfway between the centerline and the edge) and none of the shops around here will patch a motorcycle tire. The only sportbike shop anywhere nearme has only Pilot Powers in stock. They can order the OEMCorsas, but given it will take a couple of days and my bike is my main mode of transport (I hate driving my car now forvarious reasons, lol). I was wondering what is the take on mixing different tires/brands? Pros? Cons? I plan on riding all winter as long as it's not snowing (rare in the Middle Peninsula of Virginia) and have heard the Corsa is a good tire in the cold. How are the Pilot Powersin the cold? Both tires were near new with about 550 miles on both and I would like to spend as little money possible but also have a quick turnaround.
On a better note, the shop does price matching, and they have the Powers at $227 w/o install and balance. I don't know their price on Corsas,butronayers.com has them at $189. If you've got a line on a cheaper source, please send me the link and so I can get the shop to price match.

RE: Mixing tire brands?
Most riders recommend not to mix tires because every brand handles and responds differently however for regular street riding you should be just fine as long as you ride sensibly. Now $227 is a rip off even if they were mounting the tire. If I were you I would shop around alot more, try these guys out. www.kneedraggers.com

I had a stock front corsa tire and a rear Pilot Power. The front tire wore unevenly (not sure why) and the bike didn't handle that great, althought, there didn't seem to be anything "wrong" with it.
I put about 500+ miles on it before I got a new Pilot Power for the Front.WOW- what a difference! It felt like a new bike. Really- it felt like I was on a different bike and I loved it!
In short, I think you will be fine, but you boughtthis bike for power and handeling. Don't even take a chance of shorting yourself by mismatching the tires (unless the $$ is to big of a factor)

RE: Mixing tire brands?
Thanks for the replies, people. I ended up just ordering a new Diablo Corsa for the rear. If I can find a stand this weekend I can bring them just the wheel/tire and save half the price of installation. Worse comes to worst, I can patch thetire I have nowand keep it for a SHTF spare.
The good news is they price matched the tires I found online. The $227 is their price on just the rear not including install. Complete ripoff, but they worked with me at least. It's a Ducati stealershipbut they are the only sportbike shop within a reasonable distance from me since I just moved here and need to build a good relationship with a local shop.
