RE: mapping
There is only one brand of "Power Commander" and they do come with software. Are you installing a full system or a slip on? A slip on doesn't require a Power Commander, although it can never hurt. A full system should have one though. Power Commander has maps on their website for most of the popular pipe set-ups, but to get the full benefit of the Power Commander it should have a custom map made on a dyno by a Power Commander tuning center.

RE: mapping
Ditto all the above, i installed my RS5 without a power commander and it ran fine, it ran better with the pc though with the map loaded from there website and with a custom map from a local dyno tuning centre it runs sweeeeet. And you can tell the difference.
What can/full system are you putting on? If for example it was the RS5 can i could always send you my map (i have K&N a.f too), but no 2 bikes are exactly the same (hence the improvement with a custom map)

RE: mapping
Before the custom map i used the one from the pc website which was fine the bike ran good and pulled well from 3.5-4k revs with a noticable gain in midrange over the stock can.
After the custom map the bike ran awesome smooth power delivery like a beast from 2k revs all the way up, no throttle jerkyness below 3.5-4k like i had previously with both stock and RS5 with the pc map loaded from them. The best £90 i have spent in a long time in my opinion.
If you need the map i could download from the bike and save it if you wish, then pm you it or put a post here from putfile.com for anyone else. won`t be till tomorrow night though as i am away from home at the moment let me know.

RE: mapping
I got my PC3 from fuel moto best price i could find and he sent it here (UK) but although its a good service he offers to map it for your bike, the maps will always differ and by map it for your bike it usually means you say..............
I have a 2004 1000RR with an RS5 and a K&N air filter, then he goes online and checks the powercommander website and low and behold look, a map for a 2004 1000RR with an RS5 and a K&N so he loads that map and away you go. It will work but as i said earlier i`ve tried it (He mapped mine) there is a difference with a custom.
+ when you get a PC3 you can compare maps both graphically and in table form with the software so you know exactly where the differences are even before you load it to your bike.
See the new section in the 1000RR Mods area, there be some interesting maps loaded from others hopefully. I`m gonna send Chain my custom map along with a Dan Kyle map i tried for a Stock bike.

RE: mapping
thanks anubis for the input, im running the map from the pc website and really have no complaints with it until this weekend. i let a buddy take it out for a cruise and i noticed at lower rpms at WOT there was a decent amount of unburnt fuel (smoke), so i know shes running a little rich. winters here so its a perfect time to tinker with it.
