Default How much should I expect to pay to get the front springs upgraded to support my weight?

Hello everyone,
I would greatly appreciate any info you can provide me. I weigh about 280 lbs and ride a 2005 titanium 1000rr. From dayone I have been trying to dial in the bike andI think that I have it the best I can get it with what is available.

How much should I expect to pay to get the front springs redone? I found one shop in my area last year and by the time the guy was done telling me what needed to be done the estimate was close to if not over $1000.00. That's a little too much for me to swallow. Can it be done for $400.00?

2nd. Does anybody have any recommendations for motorcycle shops in the Detroit area. I'm having difficulty finding a reputable shop with someone I can trust.

Thanks again.

Did they quote you just to swap out springs or is that re-valving too? If you want to respring it only, you could do it yourself for under $300 and that's with everything. I'm planning on doing that soon myself.

Speaking to Dan Kyle of Kyle racing, he told me that I would also need to have them revalved. That is going to be the expensive part and probably where the $1000.00 price included. I was only shooting the breeze with the shop guys and inquired about having it done last year.

mgA_ODEN,
Did you do the work yourself or did someone do it for you? I'm wondering what the labor cost would be.

Thanks for the info,

That was having a local shop do the work for me

Also have to add this to the total ...
Ohlins 46 PRXLS 982.95
install and setup 66.00

after everything was said and done I had rebuilt forks and a new shock for $1632.86
