Heya guy's info. .

Been getting the itch for an other rr,had 2 of them an 05 and a 07,,my question is, what year should I stay away from, I'd like to get at least a 08 to12..seen something on the 08s oil problems or something. Just want you guy's thoughts on what's a good year to look for, tx

Wasn't aware of the 08's issue with oil. Did you read about any changes they made to it or service bulletins for it?

I was under the impression there weren't any changes from 08-11...

I like the gauges of the '12 better, but don't like the harder lines. Mechanically speaking, they're pretty much on line with the 08-11 bikes...

Oil burning issue with "some" 08's and "a few" 09's and maybe so on and so forth. Google search, there tons of talk on 1000rr.net. Clutch upgrade recall on 08's, also a coolant hose clamp recall. Mine dont burn any oil. From what I've read, the few 08's with the oil burning issue that Honda did fix under warranty, started burning oil again within a few thousand miles if not less. Also, Honda never admitted there was a problem, they said burning a quart of oil in a 1000 miles/kilometers was acceptable WTF! You can actually see some on youtube videos smoking, almost brand new bikes with the better sounding slip on the owner installed.

TX for the replys, seems like a coin flip.i personallylike the looks of the 05 fairings, but like I said, been there, and a 07, just wanted to go with a newer model I think honda changed the whole bike in 08. I might go back to an 05, loved that bike. Just turned 49 the other day, jumped on a gxr 1000, and damn, ,got the itch again. Been riding Harleys for the last 4 yrs now. But living at the beach now and riding by myself most of the time, just a lot safer bike in traffic, speaking of the rr. .hell I'll find something. But tx again for the feedback

there were indeed some early 08s with oil-burning and clutch issues, but those should be super easy to spot at this stage. mine never had an issue. the newer the better, from my point of view; always getting the benefit of newer technologies.
