help electrical problem?

Hi all, would appreciate some help, i know its difficult to diagnose over the web, but your thoughts would be appreciated, have a cbr1000rr 2004 , 19,000 miles just had 20k service, had the stator re wound last year, just recently started to get problems starting bike, thought the battery might be on the way out, took it off bike to put on charge however showed as fully charged, bought a new battery to be on the safe side, however still had starting issues although these are sporadic, today my speedo suddenly recalibrated itself on the journy home? now shows about 10 mph out at all speeds, am i looking at a possible cdi/ecu failure,

i have checked the connections with a multi meter bike when running is charging at around 14.3 so all seems good, bike does show tendancies to run a bit rough at times especially at idle which makes me think its possibly a dodgy electronic brain issue, any ideas or thoughts would be appreciated cheers

Not sure on the starting issues. The 1000RR's do tend to crank over a bit slow.

On the speedometer. Contact a dealership and see if your speedometer was replaced. You can probably give them your vin number and they can run it. In 04, there was a recall on the speedometers for them being off. if your bike never had it replaced, it may still be under the recall warranty and they will replace it for free.

I think the recall was only for an error in speed, but it may also be causing some of your other issues. Its certainly worth checking out.

When you have the starting issues are you able to push start it?
Do any of the lights show an error code on start-up?
Do you have a Power Commander?

Sounds like a problem that would show up on a diagnostic scan tool.
