HELMET CAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i really want a helmet cam i have researched many; they have some that use a camcorder or some type of recording device and there are also some that use memory card. i would rather have one that would use just a memory card so that i dont have to carry around a recording device but do they have clear video?

Jesse,
I bought the Tony Hawk Helmet Cam from Circuit City for $55, plus an additional 1GB SDcard for an extra $50. I mounted it on my tank with a bracket I bought from Home Depot, and the thing works great. I'm attaching a copied picture of a video clip I made during a track day. I have a buddy that saw my camera and purchased and mountedhis own the next day. For the price and quality you can't go wrong. Good Luck.

Jesse0376,

I used it again yesterday and noticed that it shut off by itself while I thought I was recording. I think it's because of the batteries; it seems to go through themrather quickly. Anyway, I don't know if I'm really satisfied with the results yet, but for the money it was worth a try. I will still use it on occasion.

Here are the contents of the package and how I mounted it to my bike:

The bracket is just a $.603x5 Tieplate I bought from Home Depot which are used for wood frames. I made a 90 degree bend at the bottom and then wrapped black electrical tape to keep from scratching the tank cover. Also, the screwsI use to mount the tieplate to the tank cover are the same screws thathold the clear shield to the upper body frame. I did drill two holes into the tank cover, so when I take off the mounting bracket I will just keep the screws in there to cover the holes.

Nice job and good write up. I'll have to remember this for when I get another bike. Video seems like good enough quality too.
Friendly advice though: If I were you I'd do something about the edges of the mounting bracket. Either bend the front and rear (vertical sections that lead up to the camera) into the shape of a U or another two 90 degree bends to eliminat a sharp edge. In the event of an accident or high/lowside if you were to hit that with your leg it'd be like a razor blade cutting in.

That camera is pretty top end stuff, but I'm not too keen on drilling into my tank cover.

I would get one of those camera brackets that attatch to the fuel cap assembly, then mount that camera on that. Drilling into the tank cover is a little too permanent for me.
