FAIRING PROTECTION PLEASE ADVISE

Hey CBR Lovers out there

I just purchased some new fairings for my 06 1000RR and I need to make sure they don't melt!!!!!! From the heat of the exhaust. Any suggestions comments???

Thanks

I believe you can buy special tape that is both insulated and reflective to protect fairings. I'm sure some other members on here have a better idea of what brands work best, but I think it's all pretty cheap, best way to protect new fairings. Good luck.

I also jumped the gun and ordered aftermarket fairings from Hong Kong. It seems its hit or miss with how these fairings are turning out.I have not received mine yet, but they claim to be including a 800 degree heat pad. The only heat pad on the OEM fairings is on the middle cowling. Then again, OEM lowers and tails have been known to melt also. I read in another forum that people where using truck bedliner in a can to spray the inside of the aftermarket fairings. Supposedly it makes the more rigid and heat resistant. I'm just gonna wait to see what I get then make a decision. I got the Reposol fairings (black) overdone, but no one here by me hasa repsolset. Still got my oem fairings i have thenrepaired, now I just have to find a good paint guy.

i bought cool it tape by Thermo Tec from my local auto parts store. good for 2000 degrees
http://www.thermotec.com/ it was 20 bucks for the roll and i could do both sides3 or 4 strips of it from the bottom front to back and still had some left over.
