Default Exhaust ticking

Finally got time to take a ride to the Honda shop. Ive been having a weird clicking noise from the exhaust. Tech says its the catalytic converter most likely. Its all a one piece deal from the headers all the way down to the Y. Its not performance related, just really irritating. Bike is still under warrenty but they have to get approval fron Honda to replace. I took the bike with me just in case Honda doesnt pay, est $1,000.00 parts and labor.

Why do bikes needcatalytic converters anyway?

Give it time, it'll stop. My bike did it when new and my car ticked all over the place when it was new!

Is this something you hear while riding or right after you shut it off? Mine ticks a lot on cooldown, nothing to worry about. Somewhere in the exhaust system there aretwo pieces of metal firmly held together that cooland contract at different rates. They don't slide past each other smoothly, they lurch past each otherin a series of tiny scoots.

Stay on the dealer and the process of getting the approval from Honda to do the work. I had a similar situation and even though it appears to be getting resolved it took Honda and the Dealer all riding season to work it all. Just some fyi...
