i need help i got 2006 cbr 1000rr witha knock noise on the right of the bike after it warms up does nayone know what it can be???? took it to the dealer for warranty and they say i have 2 pay for them to see what it may be and may not be under warranty..

 

its on my bike too..... all the noise is, is the engine being right below you is just very noisy....... its gonna be like that for a while....

 

my 05 has it too....only audible when the bike is at temp and idling.....was told dealer who was told by the honda service rep its a characteristic of the motor.....If its still under warranty, just have the officially dealer document the noise in detail with aRepair Order or ticketto get it in the system and be sure to get a copy of it....be sure he records the mileage

 

I beleive the fan is on the right side. Make sure that it is not rubbing against anything- I think there is even a recall for certain years due to the fan rubbing gainst the radiator.

 

thanks for the info but it does it at about 2500 rpm and it is a knock on the lower part of the engine on the right side

 

yeah.....mine too.....audible at idle.....gets faster as you slightly rev up till about 2000, then smooths out or drowns out by the engine noise

 

Does it sound like knocking or pinging in low rpms when accelerating? try searching the 1000rr section with "knocking" or "pinging." If this is it, it is pretty much normal. It happens especially when the bike is new. Most of it went away after my first oil change for some reason. In short, I wouldn't sweat it. Still a good idea to research on it though. Cheers.

 

i did the first oil change on it at 800 miles and then i did it again like 3 days ago cause i thought the oil might have been to thin it was 5w 30 and now i put the honda oil which is 10w 30 and the bike only has 1200 miles on it

 

I thought HP4/GN4 was only available in 10w40 and 20w50? but yeah....5w30 is way too thin

 

i got an 06 and just noticed the same thing on mine a couple weeks ago... only notice at idol.... igot 2k miles on mine.. glad to hear it's not just mine...
