My bike is already pretty light, but what can be done to shed more weight from it (besides wheels and a pipe)? I just ordered a Vortex lightweight gas cap (black to match the tank) and some Galfer Superlight SS brake lines (also black) to start. Any insight is GREATLY appreciated!

 

cutting torch? J/K There isnt too much weight to shed. why you caught up in losing weight so to speak when its already pretty light? and pretty sexy too.

 

magnesium wheels? Im rele lost on that one though i think that would be a lil extreme

You're probably better off losing weight yourself than trying to shed it off THAT bike.

I have no idea how big you are but if you are at all overweight imagine shedding 10 or 20 pounds - that's an amount of weight you could NEVER pull off the bike....

 

order you up some carbon fiber..make a mold of your air box and carbon it out...my friends are tearing down a 2006 1000rr..changed out lights to a modified setup which is very light..front end is becoming very light...very big difference..not really sure what can be taken off the 08 09 bike...havent seen it up close..deffinetly look into changing out the lights..big advantage there..many things can be carbon fiber replaced...just takes so much time and patience...once the bike is complete i will post up pics..coming along pretty smoothly..good luck...

I told you i was gonna keep you updated and its been awhile now..Sorry for all the delays...the bike is still coming together..ram air is under construction still so no pictures of it yet...but as you requested how to possibly loose weight on your bike...original fairings on this bike just cut differently and made into one piece with latch clips for quick release...thees farings will be eventually all carbon fiber..
the light on this bike i horrible for night riding but it is sure light and gets the job done...remember this is an 2006 1000rr...many mods have been done to this bike...most of the undertail has been stripped away...d@d exhaust shotened with bmc race filters...once the ram air induction is all made up this thing will soar...I will keep yall posted on other pics and ram air progress..Any questions be sure to ask or any advice would be surely appreciated...thanks again...
