yep do it yourself for the price of oil and filter

(I use repsol 4t so the total is 50 bucks and about 1/2 hour labor)

you really arent getting shafted because standard shop rate is about 50-60 bucks an hour

so throw in the standard dealer mark up on parts and thats about right

why arent you doing it yourself?

had to take it in anyways because the netural gauge wire had a short in it.. so it set off the fail-safe of the kickstand when you bring it back down.. it's wierd haha

but i just thought get the oil change while getting it worked on - i been hella busy with x-mas shopping and what not. Well i was just making sure i wasnt getting shafted or taking advantage of me because i'm a kid..

They are screwing you , the stealerships around here charge around $50.00 for a oil and filter change.

The thing that you should understand is that 135 is book + parts and mark up !! But all those guys can beat shop time!! You should start going there as a destination every once and a while hanging w/the techs in the service department and before too long you'll get the "preferred customer" treatment !!! I've been hanging round the shop in a similar mannor and I get a 25%discount on anything in the store!! Preferred customers bring back a steady flow of cash to the shop !! Just a thought !! But I have been up there since 1994 so it may take some time... Good luck G

u can do it yourself for prolly $50 the first time (cause u got to buy the filter socket) and its a lil less the second time. No way id b payin 150 for an oil change ever. That sounds pretty damn high so see if they are going to do anything else to the bike while they have part of her open. Id laugh at them if they told me $150.

that's probably right... after 600 miles the 1st oil change and check up they say is like 148. but suposedly that's change the oil, check to make sure it's wearing in properly (i guess tires, brakes), and check chain tension, replace fuel filter? i agree it sounds high. but that is what they told me. weather it's wright or wrong??? i dont know but that's what my dealer told me... then like every 4k miles it's like 70 bucks, then at like 15k miles it was like $120..... that's what i was told...

Thnx for that info, I wasnt sure what they were actually going to do for the 600 mile mark. Cuz Im do for one. I was debating on doing my own oil change, but I figure just to turn it in on the safe side.

owners manual tells you what they do
pretty basic stuff
checking chain, clutch, throttle free play
oil change

considering that the manual tells you exactly what to look for just do it yourself
remember to save all receipts so you can prove it was done
