Default Curious George here? 04 1000rr

Just a quick question which I think I know the answer to. Is it possible that a clogged oil filter can hender the oil from reaching the top of the engine. Noticed a knocking sound dont think it's the oil pump. Checked the oil but not the filter. The clutches were burnt to hell when I got it. So is it possible something from the clutches that were burnt that could be the henderence from my oil not reaching the top of the engine. It runs well until the bike heats up pretty good then starts the knocking. any advice would be appreciated.

Your oil filter has a bypass built into it so it shouldn't have been starved for oil.
What octane gas are you running ? By the way these motors make a ton of noise.

did you buy the bike used? If so, just hope the previous owner didnt do wheelies all day long. That will stare the #3 cylinder and kill this motor.

I am going to change the gas in it this week. I got it used it has right at 2040 mi on it. the oil question came into play when I noticed that when the knocking started the error light came on and the and on the guages the oil idicator came on as well. My first intuition says bad oil pump or maybe I have a good oil pump and something got dislocated in the changing process of the clutches. Since the oil pump is gear driven there should be no need to look for any burnt fuses? If there were something like a spun or loose bearing the noise should be constant and not just at high temps?
