Default Considering a CBR1000, gotta question...

Was out riding my Hayabusa yesterday on the Cherohala Skyway and kept thinking about all the excess weight that I am pushing through the corners. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice bike, comfortable to ride and lots of power. But for the riding I do I would like to try a modern liter bike. I have seen the unbelievable deals on '06 & '07 1000RR's and am thinking hard about buying one. It might seem like a small concern but I have read about the exhaust smell that follows you offthe CBR1000RR following a ride. How about some feedback from owners of this fine machine, is this overstated or if it does exist, is there a fix available? Thanks in advance and enjoy what is left of the riding season.

I have heard some people complaining about this, but I have never noticed it myself, nor have I had anyone else tell me that I smell like exhaust.

I have an aftermarket exhaust so maybe that has something to do with it.

With the stock system I definitely notice it. When I get to work myjacket has some residual exhaust smell for a little while. Riding in a tucked position helps, but that's not very comfortable and looks a little odd in commuter traffic.

I would just purchase an after market pipe and you should be fine.

the bike runs rich from the factory so that explains the exhaust smell from a stock pipe. a pc3 and a custom tune on any pipe would fix it.

I think the aerodynamics are a factor, as well as how rich/lean the motor is running. I have noticed the smell after riding 2 up (on the passenger), but not by myself. I am running a PCIII and a stock pipe.

I have never noticed it, nor have I ever seen any residue on the suit. Besides, if someone said I smelled like exhaust, I'd take it as a compliment.

I notice it, and my wife notices it even more. But it was also a problem with my last Honda (04 599). It's been so long since I've ridden anything but a Honda I can't say if I've noticed it with other makes also.

In the end, it's such a minor issue that in no way should it deter you from buying a sweet bike that does everything well.
