Clutch rework.

So two weeks ago I went to the honda dealership and asked about the clutch rework on the 08 CBR1000RR. "What re work?" was the response. "where did you hear about that foolishness Huh? The internet? Don't believe what you read there".
Today my notice from Honda came in the mail.
I phoned them."what do you know about the rework?". "oh yeah its really serious, don't ride your bike, truck it here...and get it here asap."
Sort of a wild change of tunes....

According to my shop this really wasn't a serious thing that should keep you from riding. I am confident in my shop as all the mechanics are honda certified. It is a redesigned clutch pack that was made to increase the life of the clutch. All bikes on the showroom should have the new clutchpack in them I know mine had it done when I bought it.

Does anybody know if this clutch change is also needed for the '08 1K models sold in New York ?? I haven't gotten any notices whatsoever and dealer also mentioned that the particular change wasn't for all models ???? Bike is also running just fine....no clutch issues.

The explanation on the notice states, "Under certain usage, abrupt cluch engagement can transmit shock loads through the clutch, which may decrease the service life of other engine components. Improved clutch inner components are now available to improve long term durability and provide smoother drive engagement."

This is necessary for all '08 1kRRs.. take it to the dealer that you bought it and they have to replace it.

Roads were finally clear enough to ride to the dealership today. It was -9C but the ice is off the main roads. Now it is wait and see.
